By listening to patients’ voices and understanding patient needs across every phase of their treatment experience journey and symptom/disease burden, it ultimately helps identify more effective patient support mechanisms and access to better treatments. It also presents a targeted approach to marketing and better commercialisation efforts.

Why choose PatientGPT™ to create patient journeys?

PatientGPT™ is a LLM (Large Language Model) powered product by Semalytix which supports the fast, agile and comprehensive generation of patient insights from social media. Patient journey generation is one module of PatientGPT™.

PatientGPT™ enables the creation of granular patient journeys without the need to use complex mathematical formulas or tools. The Semalytix approach is purely language-controlled and enables the generation of stage and phase specific insights about patient experiences and disease burden by simply entering questions into PatientGPT™.

A full and detailed patient journey based on millions of patient experiences can be generated easily and quickly.

The Importance of Detailed Patient Journey Data

Having a detailed knowledge of patient needs across each stage or phase of their disease journey, from real-world setting (e.g. outside of strict inclusion/exclusion criteria of a clinical trial) is of high importance.

Optimisation of Treatment Plans:

Analysing granular patient journey data provides insights into real-world patient preferences, treatment options and unmet needs. This information can inform ongoing research and development efforts, enabling pharmaceutical companies to continuously improve existing treatments that can lead to improved patient outcomes and satisfaction, as treatments are optimised for effectiveness with minimised adverse effects.

Efficient Marketing:

Patient journey data can be used for more targeted marketing efforts. By understanding exactly where patients are on their treatment journey, companies can deliver relevant information about new medications, support programs, or clinical trials, increasing the likelihood of engagement and adoption.

Clinical Trial Design and Recruitment:

Granular patient journey data allows for more informed clinical trial design and recruitment strategies. Research and development, health economics and outcomes research and marketing departments can identify specific patient populations, understand treatment pathways and target recruitment efforts accordingly. This can result in more efficient trials, faster recruitment, and ultimately, quicker access to new treatments for patients.

Healthcare Provider Education:

Medical departments can use patient journey data to educate healthcare providers (HCPs) about disease progression, treatment options, and patient management strategies. This empowers HCPs with the knowledge and tools to make informed decisions, leading to better patient care and outcomes.

The Benefits of Using PatientGPT™

The Semalytix generative AI-based* approach with PatientGPT™ and Pharos™
offers several features of interest to customers and users, enhancing usability and facilitates deeper analysis of the data.

Interactive Interface:

An interactive interface (filter and charts) allows users to explore the patient journey dynamically, zooming in or out on specific populations or time periods, hovering over data points for additional information, and clicking on elements to analyse in more detail.

Analytical Tools and Insights:

The platform offers built-in analytical tools and capabilities that allow users to gain actionable insights from the patient journey data in a quantitative and qualitative manner. This may include statistical analysis and cohort comparison features, enabling users to uncover patterns, trends, and correlations that may inform decision-making.

Scalability and Performance:

The platform can handle large volumes of data and is scalable to accommodate growing user needs. Performance optimisation measures are implemented to ensure faster response times and a seamless user experience.

Data Accuracy and Reliability:

Accuracy is crucial when analysing patient journey data. The platform is optimised to ensure that the data is reliable, up-to-date, and sourced from known and publicly available sources. Data validation checks and quality control measures are in place to minimise errors and discrepancies.

Data Security and Privacy:

Given the sensitive nature of patient health data, robust data security and privacy measures are essential. Our platform data is subject to GDPR requirements and regulations and follows industry best practices for data encryption, anonymization, access control and data compliance. Our high ethical standards for data processing and data safety are guided by EDPB recommendations.

Deriving patient journeys from self-reported patient experience data

Semalytix’ Patient Journey uses diverse, real-world experiences based on posts from online communities and social media which is then analysed by PatientGPT™, allowing a granular segmentation of stages and phases in a fast and accessible way.

For each phase/stage, the adjacent patient experiences are analysed (could be adapted on customer needs)

Methodology for the Patient Journey of Individuals Impacted by Diabetes

AI-verified patient experience data were collected from more than 9,000 patients and around 390,000 posts.

Data are analysed through supervised NLP for key insights (e.g. diabetes specific symptoms, treatments and unmet needs), and then aggregated by supervised and generative AI to derive data-driven patient journey stages from diabetes patient experience posts in automation and scale.
